Rug Guide

Rug Guide:

Each rug is completely unique and has its own characteristics. Even a fleece from the same sheep, will be different for the next season. Although the upmost of care has been taken to remove any "vegetable matter" as possible, you may still find the odd bit of grass and hay. Don't be alarmed, it's completely normal and natural. As a 100% natural product, a felted rug will shed small amounts of wool fibres.

Rug Care:

We advise you not to wash your rug/fleece. However, accidents and spills can happen. If you do have to wash your rug. There are two methods:

1) Using a bath tub, or shower tray. Place your rug flat down, as it would normally sit, where you have it in your home. Spread a small amount of wool kind detergent over the fleece. Then ideally using a shower head, gently rinse over the rug with cold water. leave the rug in place to soak away most of the water. The longer the better. Then allow to fully dry outside. You may need to gently stretch out the felted layer, to prevent any shrinkage.

2) Place the rug inside a large wool/fabric bag (to prevent wool/debris being left inside your machine) and then place it inside your washing machine on a delicate cold wool cycle, with added wool kind detergent. Let the fleece dry naturally outside, this may take a few days. Whilst drying, try to gently stretch out the rug, to prevent any shrinkage.

Nearly all of the rugs I produce from Zwartble wool, are thick fibres. with strong crimp. They can't really be brushed and mostly, do not suit being brushed. It's possible but rare for them to have locks to brush.
We advise not brush your rug unless stated in delivery.
